"After rehearsal one night, Lizz mentioned a beautiful grand piano that was generously donated to her. All at once, her face lit up. It was at that moment that Crescent Studios was born."
It all started with a piano...
Crescent Studios founders Lizz Thomas and Amanda Lautenbach had initially met in a Door County Service Club Coalition musical many years ago and were reunited when Amanda had come back to Door County after obtaining a degree in music education. She was working at Northern Door Children’s Center where Lizz was on the Board of Directors. At their annual staff Christmas party, the two caught up and Lizz asked Amanda if she would be the music director for Gibraltar High School's production of Legally Blonde: The Musical which Lizz directed.
After rehearsal one night, Lizz mentioned a beautiful grand piano that was generously donated to her. All at once, her face lit up. It was at that moment that Crescent Studios was born.
And the rest, as they say, is history. After some bumps in the road, they were able to get their dream space at the Top of the Hill Shops in Fish Creek, located across the street from Gibraltar Schools, a prime location.
What once seemed like a nearly out-of-reach dream has become a reality through the help and support of numerous community members and the hard work of our team.
(Sadly, Amanda has moved on to a new career in Madison, WI. Crescent Studios wishes her the best of luck in her new position, and we hope that she continues to explore her creativity and love for the arts! We will miss you Amanda!)
